Brewfest to Feature AHA Homebrewer of the Year
Zephyrhills, FL (August 22, 2014) – Skydive City in Zephyrhills will host the inaugural Skydive City Brewfest on Saturday, October 25th, 2014 with a beer pouring and sampling event featuring the award-winning brew of local homebrewer Mr. Robert Hilferding, up to 25 homebrewers from across Central Florida, and offerings from regionally licensed “Craft Breweries” provided by the Dade City Brass Tap and the Sunset Bar.
Hilferding is a long-time Zephyrhills resident and businessman who took up homebrewing as a hobby after retiring. Last June, he brought home the 2014 American Homebrewers Association (AHA) Homebrewer of the Year Award with his best-in-show entry in the Scottish and Irish ale category.
Zephyrhills businessman Bill Back who has worked with Skydive City in the past thought of the idea and pitched it to Mr. Hilferding and to TK Hayes of Skydive City over the Summer. “After learning of Robert’s outstanding accomplishment, I certainly felt there should be a way to celebrate together with the community. The venue at Skydive City is an ideal location for this first-ever event offering a casual and inviting vibe suited for both tasters, brewers, and guests.
Skydive competitors and enthusiasts from around the world are expected to begin arriving at the Dropzone ahead of the World Championships right about the time the Brewfest kicks into gear. Skydive City is hosting the 5th FAI World Championships of Canopy Piloting from November 1-7, an action-filled spectator event featuring the world’s top competitors. The BrewFest will overlap with many competitors already in town to train daily, and will be front and center to the action.
“We’ll be there to welcome them with a fine cold homebrew and more,” said Back. On hosting the Brewfest, TK Hayes said “Great idea and for many reasons. This will expose people to some great brews and what Skydive City has to offer at the same time.”
The Greater Zephyrhills Chamber of Commerce who has partnered with Skydive City to promote the event will also host a VIP tasting area.
The Skydive City Brewfest will take place Saturday, October 25th, 2014 from 3:00pm – 12:00 Midnight at 4241 Sky Dive Lane, Zephyrhills, FL 33542. Beer pouring & tasting and live DJ from 3-7pm and two live bands from 8pm-12 Midnight. Awards ceremony to take place at 7:30pm. Beer and Wine will also be available for purchase on site.
